Lights

Updated: Oct 20, 2019

Matthew 5:14 (NIV) - “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

Have you noticed how many different lights there are… street lights, spotlights, flashlights, candlelight, headlights, city lights, porch lights, Christmas lights, fluorescent lights, even Christmas is July lights outside and inside. All of them have one thing in common – sooner or later they are going to burn out.

For those who are children of God, we are to be lights of the world no longer children of darkness (Ephesians 5:8, 1 Thessalonians 5:5). We have been chosen and called out of darkness into God’s marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9). We are to be His image bearers and Ambassadors in this dark world (Matthew 5:14, 2 Corinthians 5:20). Instead of murmuring and complaining about what’s happening in this dark/lost world in which the word of God told us would happen (Matthew 24) we must let out light of love and hope in Jesus Christ shine through us and draw others like a moth to light so we can share the good news of the gospel.

Jesus Christ is the True Light that gives light to everyone that doesn’t burn out (John 1:9). Darkness is the absence of light with can lead to despair, gloom and hopelessness. Many are living in spiritual darkness blinded by the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4) with anger, hatred, deception, confusion, addictions, perversion, and rebellion.

The light of believers cannot be extinguished by the world. People seeking to fill their inward emptiness with temporary pleasures that leads to more and more self-destruction. There’s so much going on in the world today many are hurting and seeking to be loved and accepted. If you are feeling that way and haven’t accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, please go to “Home Page” on this site and repeat the prayer of salvation (Romans 10:9-10). Cry out to God who hears and knows what’s in your heart and what you are going through.

Believers let’s wakeup, watch, pray, encourage and strengthen one another the more as we see the day of the Lord’s return rapidly approaching (Heb. 10:25). We must let our lights shine like lighthouses that draw others who are lost and drowning in despair. Do not dim your light or hide it behind the four walls for the harvest of souls is ripe and plentiful (Matt. 9:37).

Time is of the essence!
